King’s University College Visits LECIAD
Faculty and Students from King’s University College at the University of Western Ontario, Canada visited LECIAD on Thursday May 9, 2019. The students led by Dr. Erin Hannah and Dr. Thomas Teiku arrived in Ghana on 3rd May, 2019 for a one week study tour.
The trip to Ghana which is part of the student’s experiential learning seminars was focused on international political economy of commodities in general and the cocoa value chain in particular. The one day visit to LECIAD was part of the experiential learning and formed part of efforts to build enduring working relationship between LECIAD and King’s University College. They team interacted with the Director, Fellows and students of LECIAD. Students of both institutions participated in seminars facilitated by representatives of Non-Governmental Organizations involved in issues of human rights and trade.
During the course of their trip, they also visited organisations involved in the production and marketing of cocoa and cocoa products, including farming communities in the Western corridor of Ghana, Tema Cocoa Processing Company, COCOBOD and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Regional Integration.
